"So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in Him, If you abide in My word [hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them], you are truly My disciples. And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free." John 8:31,32
My hope is that you have begun to unravel some of your core lies and the goals you have made because of them. My hope is that you will deal with and repent of your core lies so that you can live authentically and be used in mightier ways by God...so that you will mature and not put your lies onto others.
Find your identity in Jesus, not in yourselves or what others think about you. You don't need to be perfect or good enough or smart or pretty or in control, etc. Just be who God created you to be. Push out the enemy and believe that God is the only one who has the authority to tell you who you are...the only one.
If you don't know the truth, go to the cross. Bend a knee and allow the God of the universe to speak into your heart. Stay awhile and soak in the greatest love you will ever know.
Struggling with believing lies is something that won't end on earth. From time to time things will come up that need to be dealt with. Keeping your journal of emotions will be helpful when you need to discern what's going on inside you and if there is a lie that needs confronted. Confront it.
I realize that some lies and goals go very deep and are not so easily uncovered. If this is the case for you and you are having trouble discerning why you are in bondage in a particular area in your life, I would recommend some serious prayer. Email me,would you? I will send you a prayer guide that will help you to see your lies and goals. Sometimes we need to know the whys and the where's to fully be set free.
I pray that all of us would continue to seek the truth and say "no more" to the ultimate lie giver.

This has been good, Sarah. Thought provoking...even painful. I am not there yet. I see the lies, I see the goals, I am not to the remedy. I know Jesus is the remedy, that I get. Yet, I still continue all this negative self-talk. Thank you for sharing this..good stuff. I plan to follow up with that Jennifer Rothschild study someone had mentioned. I had already been thinking about it, and that was a good reminder.
I thought of another book. Believing God, by Beth Moore, Her third premise in the book is understanding and believing that we are who God says we are. I need to pull that out and remind myself.
Thank you.
Wow! I know that lies are sinful, but I never had thought of the need to repent from our core lies. Slowly but surely I am dealing with my lies. And now, armed with new knowledge, I will be repenting from my lie and the way that I hold on to it. Thank you again.
I'm SO GLAD you put the link to TrueFaced on here! That is my favorite book EVER. It taught me so much about myself and what the Lord says about me. I still struggle with it, but it made me realize that all the Scriptures where God is promising things for His children are for ME TOO!
Thank you so much Sarah. This was a great series.
Sarah Mae - this was a great series! I'm still working on this and will keep praying about it. It would be nice to get to the why of everything and be free!
Hope you are well - praying for you. Take it easy!!
Sarah Mae,
What a great series. Thanks for sharing your heart and for taking the time to lead us through this.
How's that baby of yours? Can't wait to see more pics!!!!
How are you doing? Are you hanging in there?
Blessings,
Joy
What a great series. To be able to understand that the solution is Jesus is key in breaking free from the lies we tell ourselves. There will be days when it is hard, but thankfully I serve a God who offers grace and forgiveness and the chance to start new every morning.
Hey Sarah,
I am so glad that the Lord led me to check out your blog the other day! I was pleasantly surprised to see that you posted this core lie series! When Cathy Bowman led me through this in college, it was so eye-opening but I never actually found freedom from my core lie until years later when God used the book "The Bondage Breaker" by Neil T. Anderson to give me some practical tools for disabling the lie! He is also the man who wrote about steps to freedom in Christ...imagine that:)! Anyway, the book helped me to understand what was going on in my head and spoke directly to the situations I seemed to find myself in continually. Ultimately, it boils down to taking every thought captive, making them obedient to Christ...like you said in one of your earlier posts. What came as a surprise to me was how very conscientious and intentional I needed to be in order to clean up my mind and heart of the dirty lies I had allowed to control my life. The good news is that once I was free from their bondage, dealing with them from then on became easier and easier!
Anyway, way to go with this series and may God bless you for your obedience to taking on the task...praying you will be filled to overflowing with His joy as you make Him your trust and strength.
Love you,
allison
