What Is Pure Religion?

Imagine with me, if you will...

It's mother's day. You are so blessed to be honored by the five children God so graciously rewarded you with. You are also thankful this day for the husband you have, for not only is he your best friend, your lover, and your protector, he is also your provider, allowing you to be a full-time homemaker and homeschooling mama. As you are pondering these blessings in your heart, the phone rings. You answer it with joy in your voice, anticipating the low, husky voice on the other end as your treasured sweetheart. It is not him. It is another voice, one with hesitancy in it. As you listen, you begin to shake, stuttering nonsense out of disbelief. Drunk driver? Accident? Dead? Your world has just been completely devastated. Without a say in the matter, you have just gone from wife to widow.

Can you imagine if the woman in the above scenario were you? Once the shock had worn off, you would have to live...but how? You so desperately want to stay home and raise your children yourself, but how could it possibly happen now? There is a way, because there is a ministry that wants to help.

Gleaning The Harvest is a ministry that seeks to care for the fatherless and the widows. They reach out by helping to provide monetary support so these mothers can continue to stay home with their children. Isn't that beautiful? I thank God for ministries such as this. Here's the deal though, they need help. Two families are currently under their care, and they need support. Please consider helping? All monies go directly to the families and their is no minimum amount to give; every dollar counts.

Would you head on over to their website and check it out. Maybe you can partner with them by grabbing their button for your blog, or perhaps donating to one of the single-mother families in need.

To read the full mission of Gleaning The Harvest and where they got the name for their ministry, see here.

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27

Helping widows works for me.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
This post is just what we are about at Gleaning the Harvest. THIS is why we created it.
God spoke many times in His Word about the widows among His People. It is our heart's desire to see these home school moms be able to stay at home and be what the Lord has put in their hearts to keep their homes and train their children in Him.

Giving even a few dollars is such a blessing to these families. Putting the GTH buttons on blogs and websites is more of a blessing than you can know.
Thank you to all of you!

What a beautiful ministry! Thank you for sharing that. I have often thought about this situation happening to people and how devastating it would be.
