Michael Jackson, A Return To Dust

"...all come from dust, and to dust all return." Ecclesiastes 3:20

Michael Jackson was a man who had millions of followers. He was known as the "king of pop" and he will leave a legacy of music and mystery.

He was also worshipped. People are committing suicide because their god is now gone.

Gone.

Just like all of us will be one day. We will all return to dust. Only one man has risen victorious over death, and His name is Jesus Christ.

He was a man. He is God. He is the King of everything.

Who do you live for?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this subject. I feel so sad for his children right now.

Praise the Lord that our God is a wonderful God, real God who is mighty and powerful all his way. Jesus is the King.

I am praying for his family, especially his children. I cried for his children today. Poor Paris getting up there in front of millions of people, wanting to let everyone know what a wonderful daddy she had.

In spite of what people said/thought about Michael Jackson, he was still someone's father, son, brother, uncle, and friend! I grieve for his family!

Blessings~

I won't even blog about this. It just breaks my heart that these people are so quick to follow a man with so many faults, but can't see the beauty, grace, healing of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Suicide? TWELVE people? That is so sad that some are so lost.

I'm glad you wrote this. One of my 20 something cousin's friends wrote on Facebook today that Jackson was the most famous man that ever lived? My response was "No I believe Jesus still holds that title."
This whole MJ thing is really out of control. Yes he was talented but his life reflected a truly troubled soul and his lifestyle was one that I wouldn't idolize at all.

Hubs and I would like to use this post as a discussion point for our youth Bible study this week, if you don't mind. :) We will need to copy/paste it into the notes (acknowledging your blog as the source, of course). Is that ok?

Very well put.

Amen Sister. I am terribly sorry for his children, and I pray somehow they will find a saving relationship through the true Messiah.
This is why it is so important for us to have our children's hearts. We cannot let any part of the world have them, because the world is CRAZY and will consume itself, looking for a god in any place it can.

Michael would have had real talent had he lived for the Lord. Imagine that.

But, back to dust...
True, so very true. So, let's make our lives count for the real important things, like what we were created for: To worship the One True God, Yehovah, and not His creations.

Blessings~

I live for God, my husband, and my children. No false idols. I was twittering about this earlier and just left a similar comment on another post. He was a man and nothing more. Simply a man. This whole thing has been blown way out of proportion. We have trouble believing in God but a nation can come together for a man that many of them wanted to hang from his toes not too long ago. Unbelievable. I can sympathize with his family over their loss but he was nothing but a man...so why should people worship the ground he walked on?

Well said Sarah I totally agree with this.

So sad, really. Another soul went into eternity and all they can think about is the music.

I was praying the psalms tonight not looking for anything in particular and prayed Psalm 49. I was thinking of blogging about it (still may) but it really reminded me of MJ. "Then do not fear when a man grows rich, when the glory of his house increases. He takes nothing with him when he dies, his glory does not follow him below. Though he flattered himself while he lived...yet he...will never see the light anymore."

This just reveals that people are desperately looking for something - SOMEONE - to follow, to believe in, to hold onto. And they'd rather follow MJ than Jesus Christ (the perfect, righteous, Son of God!) Oh how blind the world is - and so easily distracted by glitter...

You read "wrote" my mind!

I hadn't heard about that.. probably because I'm avoiding all news concerning MJ.

Our world is so lost. That people are so wrapped up in someone else's life so much like that..

Sooo sad...

It reminds me to pray for those people though.. instead of thinking they are crazy like I normally do, I should be praying..

I know the right answer is that I live for God. However, I must be honest right now and say that I live for myself.

I am not saying this as it is right, rather as a wake up to myself that I am selfish. I do not want to be, but I am.

With that said, I know I have work to do and must stop living a lip service to God and truly live for Him.

smooches,
Larie
