Saturday Score...Where You Score Free Stuff! Real Moms...Real Jesus

If you are a mom, you will want this book.

Trust me.

Encouraging, practical, truth-filled, light-hearted, conversational and right on, Real Moms...Real Jesus is like a warm cup of coffee (hehe...). Truly, it is like sitting down with a "comfy" friend who tells you want you need to hear after those "tiring, laundry-filled, sticky-fingered days every mother knows." Jill gives perspectives on serving, worship, having a gentle spirit, boundaries, sacrifice, forgiveness, leading our children, our identity, temptation, emotions, prayer, faith, and surrendering.

She's solid ya'll.

You can find her at Hearts at Home or her personal blog and check her out for yourself if you'd like.

So, what exactly is the score today? Three (that's right, THREE) copies of her book!

Leave a comment letting me know why this book would be a great help to encourage your spirit. I will choose three winners based on your comments.

The contest will stay open until next Friday at 9pm. The winner will be announced on the next Saturday Score. :)

Never miss a Saturday Score by clicking here!

oh boy. being a mom is so much more involved than i ever realized. my mom raised me on her own, so naturally she wasn't home a lot because of work (usually late night hours) so i feel like i still need a ton of training on how to do it all. sounds like a great book.

I would love to receive a copy of this book because as a mom of 2 boys and 2 girls those sticky-handed, laundry-filled days sometimes seem never-ending. There are days when I need some encouragement from someone besides my husband that's older than 9...because after all...sometimes your husband is the last person you want to hear talking (sometimes he's just the RIGHT person too!) after a long day chasing the kids....

This book sounds great. Being a very busy homeschooling Mom myself, I find it very hard to find time to read, so when I do I want it to be something that is going to refresh the spirit and be worth the time spent reading it. This books sounds like it just might do the trick! Thanks for considering me.
Was that vague enough for you? LOL. Okay how about this! I have a hormonal teenage girl and 2 boys that could make a nun cuss? LOL. Okay I'm exaggerating but it sure did sound good.
Hugs to you my friend. I really would like the book though. Hee! Hee!

Oh, now why did I find your site just today? I would love to receive this book. I am a missionary mom of 3. A 3 year old girl, a 2 year old boy, and a 1 month old girl. We live in West Africa. Being a mom is challenging and stretching, no matter where you live. Your site looks wonderful and I intend to look around some more. Thanks so much for doing this giveaway. I will be anxiously waiting to see the results. :)

Are you kidding? A book that is less about the phantom we all fear and more about the realities of life and laundry and Jesus...well, it doesn't get any better!

Oh you know I would love a chance to win this! After all, I am a mom who needs a real Jesus, not some fake, artificial, imaginary, twisted version of my own, or of the world's.

I'd love to win a copy of this book! As soon as I saw the title, I knew it was something I needed. I've been really struggling lately with the whole thought of "Jesus has suffered everything we have and He understands." I KNOW it to be true, but have a hard time experiencing it in my life.

The tagline "Meeting the Friend who understands" spoke to me so much. I think I need to be reminded of His compassion and understanding.

I'd LOVE to have a copy of this book. I have two small children (3 and 1) and some days, I just feel completely overwhelmed with homeschooling(we just started this year for preschool), housework, trying to meet my husband's needs and not loosing my own mind in the process! lol. I was raised by a single mom who did not really teach me much about God, so I've been paving my own way since becoming married. I'm learning the ropes, so to speak, of staying at home, managing everything, and relying on God to get me through, but I could most definitely benefit from someone who has been there, done that with advice and encouragement!

Seriously, what mom doesn't need her spirit encouraged every now and then? Plus, it would be a great door prize for our MOPS group next year! :)

I think this book would be a blessing to me. I do love Jesus (he is my joy, my everything),and I'm trying to get my hands around being a stay at home Mom. I'm trying to do this thing with excellence and creativity but find that oftentimes, I'm lucky just to squeeze in a shower. I'm hoping that in the pages of the book, I'd find wisdom and direction as well as even more cause for joy!

I neeeed this book. Just looking at the cover tells me I need help in the laundry department. How does she have just one basket to wash!

God is so Good!

This sounds like a great book to have. I'm sure a lot of you know that being a mom is a hard job. With my husband always being gone because of work and providing a roof over our head, I have lots of lonely times. This book would be perfect for those long days when the kids just won't listen and I need that dose of encouragement.

I have never signed up for a giveaway on any blog, but I think this book would greatly benefit me. I simply would not waste your time or mone if I did not reaaly think so. I check out her blog and the first post I saw was about a desperate mother needing help and I can reaaly relate. I have four kids (10m-8y) and for the first time ever I feel desperate. I never thought I could feel this way. I also started homeschooling this year, have an infant, juggling a very energetic toddler, and struggling to enjoy homescchooling rather than just get through it. I can't seem to get my focus off being overwhelmed in the last six months. I am missing the joys of a life that feels like it is passing me by. I want to get back. Maybe this book could help me. Thanks for considering me and thanks for all the giveawys you do.

I found your blog through your poetry blog a while back and know your journey has been a difficult one. Thanks for sharing your testimonies of life openly. You are blessing many lives... mine included! My story is different, but I can learn so much from yours and my compassion has always run deep for the "mother's side". I am not sure why, but God seems to have laid it on my heart to look at it differently than most people do. I have two real life contacts that have these "secrets". Maybe God knew they would need someone that coould be there to tell their secret to and be loved anyway. Sorry I am rambling I just feel the need to tell you that I appreciate your being real for the sake of the call. Your testimony is reaching many!

Sarah Mae- what a wonderful book to share! I think we can all use this these days. Society is definitely not focused on the ministry of motherhood. As I approach next year, my first homeschooling year, I can use all the filling of God's spirit and His words and their applications in my life. Thanks so much for sharing :)

This is exactly what God has asked me to work on this summer. I have been reading "Breathe: Creating Space for God in a Hectic Life." as part of my morning time and "Heaven at Home: Establishing and Enjoying a Peaceful Home" as my nighttime/day time. Along with your 31 day clean. This is the part of my life I have ever felt such a prompting from God to try to fix over the summer. I felt lead to stop my church's small group and other activities to totally focus my family/home ministry. Thank you for helping on this journey I am calling, "The Call of Summer."

I would love this book! I love being a momma, it is my most favorite job in the world. Some days at the end of the day I just feel like I really stink at it though. I need some encouragement during those times, as we all do.

I would love this book! I'm in the middle of a cross-country move (with DH and my two little girls--almost 3 and almost 1). We're headed to a town where I don't know anyone (yet) and where I'll have to deal with (very) cold weather for the first time, and where DH will have (very) long hours. I could use all the encouragement I can get to cling to my best friend, Jesus :). Thanks for hosting such great giveaways!

I would love to have this book. I've been in prayer about being a better wife and mother. I've let things get me distracted, so I'm on a self rediscovery phase right now. I would love to have that extra boost by feeling encouraged by a Titus 2 woman.

What mother couldn't use a little encouragement and stirring up? I certainly can, and I have been one for 12 years.

As Christians we need to have constant reminders to keep our minds where they belong, and help along the way to being godly wives/mothers.

This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
2 Peter 3:1

Sounds like a book that is close to my heart. I read a little over on her blog - a post about chapter 7 and 8 - talking about being tired! That is the story of my life right now. The kids are getting up earlier and I've been staying up later. And seems like I'm just barely existing sometimes, but at the same time, I am loving my job more and I am still being productive. My strength, I am finding, is not in me but in God. I have to trust Him and lean on Him and my dh. I'd be really interested in reading this book (as well as some of her others; checked out the shoppe too). Thanks for an opportunity to win!

I probably don't need this book as badly as moms of three, seven, or twelve kids. Right now I only have one little boy. God has blessed me with miscarriages. That is the area where I have struggled lately, relying on Him in His sovereignty, knowing that He loves my babies even more than I ever could. And He has truly been a Real Friend in my struggles.
Anyway, I am always checking out the Scores. Because I like you. ;)

Oh, I'd love this book and the encouragement I'm sure it would bring. Being a SAHM is awesome and rewarding, but it can be a bit isolating. Blogging helps, but Christ can help more. Thanks!!

I would love a copy of this book. Even though my oldest child is 6 years old, I'm new at the stay at home mom thing. I now work for a school district and have summers off work. Before I've always worked year-round, rarely even taking the vacation time I had accrued. I hated it and always felt I was cheating my oldest, who was in daycare from 9 weeks until he started kindergarten last fall.

My summer as a stay at home mom begins Monday and I'm a little embarrassed to say that I'm scared about it. I've had a few sticky-fingered, laundry-filled days here & there, but always on weekends when my husband was around to help out. I didn't have a good model of how to be a good mom when I was young, so I'm sort of figuring it out as I go along.

I can't tell you how happy I am to have the opportunity to spend my summers with my children; I love them so much and jumped at the chance when it came up. But now that it's a reality, I'm really worried that I'm going to stink at this. I'm looking for all the help I can get...

okay, no pressure to write a clever comment, huh? i'm not even going to try. Have fun blessing three moms with a warm cup of coffee! hehe...

If this book will tell me it is ok if sometimes I want to throw my children out the window--then it is for me! Of course, I don't really want to throw my chidren into the snowbank--but you get my drift. Why is it that Christian woman have to feel like they can never have a breakdown or it means they don't think their children are blessing? Everyone needs a break, right? Please, someone tell me right?!!

Why would I like this book? To help me rely on something besides medication to get me through life...

i'd like it bc who can't use encouragement ?!

Julianne said...

Well it's obvious every lady here would love this book, including myself! I'm like alot of other moms, I have 4 young kids- 2 boys and 2 girls- we have our ups and downs, I feel like I fail them every day, but yet they still love me- that's how gracious God is to me as a mom. I could always use some encouragement and this books sounds like it would definately do that for me.
Thanks!
Julianne :)

I have seen the Lord work miracles in my life. From teaching my daughters to building my marriage. I believe in the power of God. Even if I don't win, I would think about adding this book to my summer reading list.

As hard as I try I am still struggling with having a godly PERSPECTIVE on most of those areas. I would love (and need!) any help I could get. Thanks!

I would love to read this book, because I am the first of my close, long time friends to have become a mother. While I have lots of great friends in my new town, and many encouraging blog friends, it would be great to have a "friendly" book, written from a Christian perspective, to refer to. :)

Well, I need this book, but I will leave my name out of the drawing for reasons that you know. *wink wink*

Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed as a mother and feel like I am failing miserably in the areas that matter most. I think we may even have this in our church book store. I will check tomorrow! Thanks for telling us about it!

Okay, I could use a copy of that book!! Having one of "those days" right now! I'm a sahm to 4 kiddos my oldest just turned 5 last weekend youngest is 12 weeks. Feeling a little bummed after church today because they had a ministry fair to help people get plugged in. It is next to impossible for me to get "involved" in ministries at church. My husband is the youth pastor there and also works a full time job and his schedule is FULL! He absolutely does everything he can to help me out when he is here. But the "when he is here" part is the key! I really do like to be home with the family, just needing some encouragement during this season :)

3 Kiddos. Not 10, not 5, not any more. However, like all of us, I need all the solidly Biblical help I can get; both in terms of practical pointers and in terms of a 'vision for mothering.' Joni Eareckson-Tada is my 'living hero.' Her words consistently point me to Jesus and His redeeming love and she LIVES her faith amidst suffering. But, she is not a mother in the sense of the nitty-gritty details: the minutea of motherhood (as I've heard it called). Fibromyalgia settled in with full-force right after our youngest entered the world. Without exaggeration, each day is filled with the struggle against pain. At first I did everything I could to stay away from the pain medications. Now, I barely make it through most days even with the yukky 'strong stuff' (and the inherent side-effects). A devourer of books, I would enjoy a fresh vision for, what is actually, the high calling of motherhood, and a fresh infusion of joy in mothering (even if most of it these days is from my bed). :)

If the Jesus I follow isn't THE Jesus for real life, real people, real moms, then who in the world am I following? Jesus came as one of us to express his love like no other can... I'm seeming to need reminding of that all too often... I can trust His love. I'm counting on it... sometimes real life tries to suck that life of love out of us, doesn't it?

As a mother of a 6 year old and also a homeschool mom (who teaches art in our coop as well!) I am CERTAIN I can benefit from the encouragement this book would offer and would LOVE the opportunity to share copies with some other sisters.

Count me in on this!! I have a great need for guidance. With 3 kiddos and one on the way, I'll take any biblical based mommy help I can get!

Thanks!!

I'd love this book. I am plunging into the homeschool waters for the first time this year and I could use all the encouragement and wise counsel I can get. I need to be reminded why I am doing this, by someone who has been there before me.
