This Is Why Christians Should Seriously Consider Adopting...

A Florida woman accused of abusing 11 disabled children she adopted — while pocketing more than $1 million in subsidies...

Authorities say they found the adopted children had been held like prisoners in Leekin's home, often handcuffed together and forced to soil themselves because they were not allowed to use the bathroom. They said they had never seen a doctor or a dentist and had not been allowed to attend school or leave the house. All were near starvation when they were found.

Or maybe our society should do a better job when deciding whether or not a person is capable of adopting!! How horrible for those little children but how wonderful that they were rescued. I didn't think that picture was a woman!! Maybe that explains some of the meanness she displayed towards the children! ! Awful story! Thanks for sharing it! Have a great weekend.

So sickening. Those poor children! It's so sad that there are people taking in children just to get money.

It is sad to see how low the world is becoming, or is. The Bible says there's nothing new under the sun...there is just a lot we don't see or know about. I can't imagine how much God's heart has ached since the very beginning of sin. My heart grieves so much for crimes against children. They are so helpless and innocent! How or why would anyone hurt them?! :(

She is a horrible woman. That made me sick to read what those kids went through. I think some of these people get these kids just for the money, not to nurture and love a child.

This post breaks my heart for several reasons -- the mistreatment of the children, the bad light it casts on adoption, and the reaction of those who read the story. Yes, Christians should adopt. Through adoption we have a ready-made illustration of God's grace, mercy and provision. If Christians were truly pro-life (and not just anti-abortion), then every child from Maine to Mongolia would have the blessing of a forever family . . . a family where he or she is loved and cherished.

For the record, we who have adopted have been scrutinized in every aspect of our lives -- willingly so, gladly so -- because we long to be parents. Thankfully that system usually works and far fewer children (by percentage) are mistreated by adoptive parents than by biological parents (who, by the way, have no one to deem them capable of parenting). Yet, evil exists and we have seen her face today. I'll get off my soap box now :)
