Redeeming The Time With My Kiddos...

"It is impossible for a father or mother to spend the majority of their time and mental focus on activities of their own personal interest and still have anything left for their children. There is no substitute for time. We are lying to ourselves if we think we can just spend quality time with the children, because we aren't willing to give them quantity, and still be able to maintain a heart-keeping relationship. It takes time and effort to build the kind of relationship that keeps a child's heart. Investing that time is essential." -Steve and Teri Maxwell, Keeping our Children's Hearts, page 80

Redeeming The Time With Our Kids, a series from The Stay-at-Home Missionary.

"Ex Prep" will be on hold until tomorrow...so will blogging...today, I just enjoy my wonderful two blessings.

That quote is why I chose to homeschool my kids. It is also why I little to no time for all the creative fun things that I enjoy. It is hard to put my desires on hold but parenting is a full time job and I keep reminding myself that once I'm out of the "all hands on deck" phase and have more time for myself - I'll miss it.

Enjoy your little ones. We only have them for awhile and then they're gone, so they need the most of us right now. Will be back tomorrow!!!

Wise choice!

As to your comment, you're absolutely right: havoc wrecks as soon as the telephone rings. Maybe it's a little like Pavlov's dogs, with the bell trigger ;O)

Also, I am proud to inform you that I've raided my home, especially kitchen, panrty and bedroom, thanks to your 31 days to clean! I'm off to linger on the curse part now, cos I'd like to chew on it a bit.

Hope you had a great day!

What an encouragement! We actually gave up cartoon time this week. Our tv is off now completely (well except for the occasional tivoed program after the kiddos are in bed) and we have crazy amounts of time. We didn't watch much before, but it's amazing what a difference it makes. After being away for the weekend, it impressed upon me how much little time we have with them in this life. Cheers to you and your sweet blog entry! Enjoy those kiddos!
