10 Days To Modest! FASHION SHOW - Link Up!

Happy Modest Fashion Show Day!

Here are my top three favorite modest preggo outfits (all super cheap...except the jeans!):

This is the "night out" look. I put a black tank under this sweater so that when I bend over you can't see a darn thing!

(I heard that putting your hand on your hip for a picture makes you look thinner!)

I paired this sweater with a brown tank - I swear the tank is the secret modesty weapon!

See the brown tank? Oh yea!

For all those who are or have been pregnant, you know it is very difficult to find maternity outfits that aren't low cut...and for that matter aren't frumpy! All of the shirts above are actually not maternity! The great thing about one of the fashion trends today is long shirts - which actually cover my belly a heck of lot better than most maternity shirts (why are they never long enough?).
Your Turn!

Link up with your favorite modest outfit. Make sure to link back here so that others can join in! Can't wait to see!
By the way, like the new blog design? The fabulous Miss Emily Rose of Simply Vintage Girl created it and I love it! If you want a beautiful new design for your blog, I super duper recommend her!

You are the cutest pregnant woman ever! I'm still working on my post, but I love your outfits! The pink sweater/brown tank is my fave!

You are absolutely adorable! Tanks and camisoles are my modest wardrobe staple too!

I don't see a linky thing, but I might have missed it because I've never done this before... anyways, my first outfit is here:

I will probably add more later!

If I can get V to figure out my D40 today, I'll be posting a picture of some sort! In the meantime, though, I wanted to let you know that your site looks FANTASTIC!! I love, love, love the new look. :) Congratulations!

So, so cute! Love the outfits. I've found it hard to find things to cover the "chest area" myself. Target has great long sleeve t-shirts that come up high...I seem to live in them!

This is such a great idea, Sarah Mae. I am trying hard to figure out what I am doing with Mr. Linky, but even if I "flub" it up just know that I am cheering you on! Great job everybody.

You are a beautiful pregnant lady Sarah Mae! Those outfits are awesome! I soo understand about tanks...I totally use them to layer and keep my stuff to myself! ;) I use them when pregnant A LOT, too. I'll need new ones because I've stretched them out and wore them down wearing them so much! Ha ha! I acutally may have some preggo pics from a couple years back I can share. I found some cute maternity clothes on clearance at Old Navy. If I can track them down, I'll post them and email you my blog. :)

Sarah Mae, you are stunning and adorable. I love the black outfit. Love, love it. I'm not sure I have the time or energy to take pictures of myself today with fifty incomplete home improvement projects and my mother-in-law coming in the morning, but we'll see.

Those are great outfits! I love your accessories. Where do you find high-cut tank tops? I can find long ones to cover my bum, but I can't ever find ones that are high cut to cover my chest.

I don't know what you're talking about girl! You look incredible, and not huge at all!

I love black with black. It's classy and can be dressed up with jewelry!

Thank you for taking the time to help us understand modesty in today's society. There's so much "gray" that sometimes it's hard to trample through and really get to the truth.

I wanted to suggest something that my friend told me about. She has the expensive $25 one called a Bella Band. Basically it's the bottom half of a tank top. You wear it to hold up your pants when you're pregnant - or even when you're not. It gives a layered look by giving the length that a lot of tank tops and camis don't provide. They have them at Walmart called a Belly Band for $14.95. I'm thinking this will be one of my first purchases when I'm pregnant. My friend also said it gives your belly a little more support. It will also help you get back into your pre-pregnancy pants sooner because it will hold them up, even if you can't button them yet.

I think you look great! When I was pregnant with my over 10# babies I looked like I was carrying twins!
Thanks for hosting the fashion show, I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone posts!

You look beautiful! I wish I would've looked half as great as you do while I was pregnant. (Trying not to be jealous....)

Oh my - too cute, you are.
Here I went to bed thinking Mr. Linky wasn't going to work since a bunch of people posted that, and didn't upload my post. Oh well....so sorry!!

I would love to see this happen again in the summer when it is more challenging to be modest too! Sure is fun looking at everyone's outfits! :)

I just found your series on modesty from WFMW. I may get tomatoes tossed at me here, but I am of the belief that pants are not preferred if you really desire to dress modestly. I do not think this is any part of my salvation or having to do with God's approval of me. But there are many things that we do for the sake of righteousness that are not contributing to our salvation.

There have been many comments here that say we should guard ourselves from causing men to be in sin because of seeing our bodies. If we wear pants they can see our crotch and the curve of our behind. Also, wearing pants does not separate us from the world.

I wear dresses only. I do not condemn those that make other choices, but if we are going to have a real discussion on modesty, we must be open to this idea. I know that I exude femininity and modesty. I get approached all of the time by strangers who are blessed by the way I carry myself. I am not trying to convert anyone here, but trying to offer another view on this. I am still pretty trendy and current (not frumpy). But I do not agree that we can just cast aside the idea that dresses are more modest than pants.

I will be quiet now. I know many of you won't like what I have to say, but please know that it is intended to be said with a genuine and humble heart.

I love your fashion show! How dang cute are you??!! I wasn't feeling motivated to do a fashion show just yet. But I did want to agree with you regarding the tank. I wear one under EVERYTHING! :)

I posted two outfits... I have pictures for more, that I might post later today. This is an idea I've had for a long time, and I'm so glad someone finally did it!

Oh my goodness- what a great idea to have a fashion show so others (like me) could get ideas for cute outfits. I love it, and hope it's a yearly event. I just came across your blog about a week ago and am so glad I found it. I'm a stay-at-home mom of 4 little ones- ages 6, 4, 2, and 7 months. It's been so great to read your posts and various studies that you have on your blog. And PS- love those outfits, I've been adding tanks under most of my shirts for about a year now, but through your fashion show I've gotten so many ideas for outfits that I can't wait to try for myself.
Thanks!!

I love all the outfits! I just wish I had a blog so I could share some of mine. :( I'd been thinking all week about which outfits I would post. I even got my new skirt from Christa Taylor! sigh. Ahh, well It's fun to look at what everyone else is wearing!--Kym

Well, not quite computer savy. Not sure if I linked up correctly for the fashion show, but my 4 year old and I enjoyed modeling on our blog :)! I think you look beautiful. Be encouraged by all the sweet comments - I know some pregnant days, I sure didn't feel very beautiful :)!

You should be a pregnant model - you look gorgeous! No frumpiness whatsoever! Your new blog design is fabulous - I really love it!!

Hi Sarah Mae! I too would love to know where you got your high-necked tank top. Even from "modest" companies, I still have a hard time finding tanks/camisoles that are high enough. Maybe because I'm short-waisted...?

Laura said...

All of you wondering about the high-necked tank -

One easy solution is to put a tagless tank on backwards! :)

Anonymous said...

Gotta love those tank tops! They are serious life savers.

You make a very cute pregnant model. :)

Look how cute you are! I totally agree about the hand-on-the-hip trick. I was going through old pictures last week and went through a hand-on-the-hip phase one year in college and even though my face was chubbier, I look at the pictures and think I look thin! (or cute and sassy, at least...)

GREAT outfits!

Can you say where you find these clothes? I am 18 weeks pregnant and clearly need to get some new clothes - I bought some a couple of weeks ago, but really need more...I hat how limited my wardrobe is!!

I am really attached with the fashion shows. Fashion shows are fun and creative way of highlighting some of the ethical issues surrounding the fashion industry. Organising a fashion show can be very time consuming and there is a great deal of hard work involved.
