What Does A Pastor And Cleavage Have In Common?

They both show up to church every Sunday!

Okay, that's just a little preview of a series I have coming up next week - hope you'll stay tuned! ;)

Oh, the topic of modesty and what people think they should be wearing and shouldn't, I can't wait to hear your thoughts. In today's world, I know we struggle raising two teenage girls and not being able to find anything suitable for them to wear.

Interesting! Can't wait to hear what you have to say!

Seriously! Women - do you not understand how temptation works in men? And MY husband is a man. I don't want him looking at anyone's boobies but MINE!

Oh, I can't wait for your new series. It's obviously a hot button for me!

That completely made me laugh out loud!!! Unfortunately its so true!!! I serve in our college ministry and we have talked alot about it. I have some insight on it from that age group...but I'm am really looking forward to your blog-series. :)

Oh....after reading the other comments I had something else to add. It became very eye-opening to me when one of my best friend's was talking to me about her husbands struggle with lusting. I was so embaressed that I never thought about what I wearing and if I was causing my friend's husband (or any other man to stumble). I also "learned" that men are taller than most of us....so even when there is no cleavage from my view in the mirror...DOES NOT mean that there isn't from above me!!! Anyway----SO looking forward to reading what you have to say!

Bring it ON! Sometimes I just want to walk up to people (and actually have had to with one of my own altos!) and say, "Honey, I can see waaaaay too much!"

Sounds great! You made me laugh though - I thought what in the world is she talking about when I saw the title!

This is one of the reasons we left a very large church. It wasn't because of the teaching because that was great but it was the clothes that these women would wear and noone would voice to them that they shouldn't. Yes, lots and lots of cleavage and short skirts walking around church. It's sad when you have to put blindfolds on your boys just to walk into a place of worship.
Can't wait to see what you got here.

What a great idea for a series. We have taught our girls about dressing modestly since they have been very young. The hardest years to find clothes were when they were around 7-12 years old. Retailers must think anyone of that age is hot and wants to show it off. PLEASE! I ended up sewing most of their dresses during those years. One great resource that has helped my girls understand this issue from a male's point of view is The Modesty Survey by Alex and Brett Harris at The Rebelution.com
http://www.therebelution.com/modestysurvey/
It is still not easy to find clothes, but we have learned what areas to not even bother looking in.

Thanks ladies for all your comments so far. We have had some terrible experiences with this very thing. We have three sons and one of them came to us at the age of 11 (they really notice more than you realize at an early age) and asked if anyone was going to "do" something about the young women. Well, needless to say, after trying to "do" something over the course of several years, we finally had to leave. It was a terrible shame. That said, I am looking forward to your series.

Ha! I'll have to tell the hubby this!

I emailed you, but also added a email address to my profile. And thanks for your kinds words, guess I need to update our 'about us' since we have the little one now!

Hi! This is topic that just eats at me. I often wonder if women either don't realize the awful position they put men of all ages in when they dress in a certain way.. or if they just don't care. (or maybe worse, they do it intentionally!) I am fortunate that we're attending a church right now where everyone is pretty modest. Can't wait to read your posts on it!

I also wanted to let you know that I've been very blessed with my early morning time with God that your 5am club inspired. I do wish that I could still be in the email loop but I just couldn't handle my inbox filling up so quickly.

This certaintly is a hot topic, I'm anxious to hear what you have to say about it. And I can totally appreciate what one poster said about men being taller...as a shorter gal I've learned how important it is to double check that area before running out the door! Can't wait to see your insights on this.

This should be a very, very interesting topic. Some of my girlfriends and I have discussed this quite a bit recently and having a little girl of my own makes me very aware of what is and isn't appropriate. Can't wait!!

An amen to that!!! My husband and I cannot believe the lack of modesty among women in our church. My husband says it is horrible, because he is a regular greeter at church and he says sometimes it blows you away when a woman comes in inappropriately dressed. Looking forward to your upcoming posts. Jackie

GREAT!!! Topic, Sarah.
As a Mom of a teen-age daughter, involved w/the youth girls periodically in ministry, and part of the Worship Committee at church this is a topic that needs to be addressed too often at church. Looking forward to what you have to say.
