Day 23 - Your Most Dreaded Job (Or The One You Keep Putting Off)

Today, we resume 31 Days to Clean.

What is the one thing you hate to clean the most? What is thing you put off time and time again? Whatever it is, I challenge you to take it on today.

My most dreaded job (toilet scrubbing is a very close second) is cleaning windows. In fact, I've never done it. You heard correctly - I have never washed a window in my whole life (pathetic, and scary, I know). I constantly put it off because it seems like such a huge job to me. Today, I am going to give you (ahem, me) some tips on cleaning your windows, just in case any of you hate to clean them as well!

Get Yourself Some Cleaner

Soap in a bucket will do - your dish soap is fine. If you want to make your own window cleaner, here's a "how-to" from the site coupons and Refunds:

Ingredients:

½ tsp liquid soap

3 tbs vinegar, 2 cups water

spray bottle.

What to do: Combine the ingredients and put them in the spray bottle. Use like any window cleaner.

Tip: Use newspaper to dry your windows. It's cheaper than paper towels and it leaves windows shiny and streak free. (If you're going to use newspaper, where rubber gloves so you don't get ink hands.)

Prepare to Scrub

Grab a wash cloth, old t-shirts (husbands have plenty, they just don't want to admit it), or an actual squeegee. These are your tools of the trade.

The Actual Cleaning Part (evidently, this is an art)

"When scrubbing a window, start with the edges. Scrub back and forth, up and down along each edge. Then, start scrubbing from the top and work your way down to the bottom using small circular motions." Do-it-yourself Window Cleaning

Don't Forget the Window Sills

You can do this with warm, soapy water and a rag.

Apparently, "window cleaning should not be drudgery! In fact, with the right tools, it can be a relaxing and enjoyable activity!" Hmm...never thought of it that way. Still don't.

What is your most dreaded cleaning job?

Easy - bathroom. Guess I had better get to that dreaded job tomorrow then. Have 'fun'... yeah right - I'm with you - doesn't exist - cleaning your windows :)

In fact, on second thoughts - I'll clean it now. I did say in my mission statement that i want to spend less time procrastinating about cleaning than the actual time it would take to just clean it! So, was only going to sit and watch some rubbish on TV for an hour before bed... I'll clean instead. Right - I'm off then!

Cleaning underneath and behind furniture ... mainly because you first have to move said furniture, then clean, and then move it back again, so the job is so much more than just cleaning.

Which is why I asked my husband to help me with that chore this weekend!

You supposed to clean the windows? I never knew. We have a tall two story house so this job would be rather difficult.

My toughest challenge is bathrooms and keeping my closets and laundry room tidy. I think that's what I'll tackle today.

I guess the excuse "I don't do windows" won't get me out of this one. I think I may have to wait for cooler weather to tackle this one!

My toughest challenge has always been the bathroom, but since I've learned that vinegar will cut away all my hard water stains, I've been a much happier camper!

The oven? Dusting? I'm not sure. They could both use a good cleaning.

I am really not a fan of cleaning things that have to do with water, like bathrooms, dishes, mopping ...etc. I don't mind dusting, vacuuming, or sweeping but I always put off cleaning the bathrooms. Sigh. Then when I finally do clean them it takes awhile and then I think "why did I put this off" - I am gonna tackle the bathrooms today.

Window cleaning stinks too. :(

I'm a little odd but I really like to clean....everything. There are things that I would rather simply disappear like the toilet, dishes and laundry, but I have had to get over it.

I have been putting off for over a year getting my carpets cleaned. It is such a pain to move everything off the floors (closets being the worse) to have someone do a really good job. Today, I am having the carpets cleaned. In fact they are working on my bedroom now.

I'm one of those sick and twisted people who actually like cleaning. I know, I know...I'm weird. However, I loathe doing dishes. Even just putting them in the dishwashwer and when it comes to scrubbing pots and pans....I LOATHE them.

Apparently I found a different chore I hate. I just folded three baskets of laundry!
Which motivated me to get back to where I left off in the 31 days... the bedroom. I'm not done yet, but I've made great progress.

I'm loving your tidbits and yes, you can have a copy of my do;) Today has been a better day. Thank heavens for our Dr. being a close friend and good meds. I would not wish this on my worse enemy. Not fun!

Oh my goodness. I cleaned the microwave. I cannot believe it, but I posted the pictures...I am a little embarrased at how bad I let it get.
