Today's Toddler Time - Finger Painting

A great activity for toddlers is finger painting. It’s easy, fun, messy (don’t worry, it's easy clean-up if you follow the below tips), and afterwards you have a beautiful (hey, it’s all in the eye of the beholder) piece of artwork! To get started, you’ll need some finger paints, which, if you don’t have any, will cost you around $5. If you want to make your own, Child Learning Support has a good recipe for homemade finger paints.

Finger painting tips:

  • Make sure your sweetie is wearing a smock. I just use garbage bags and cut out the holes for the head and arms. Garbage bags also make great tablecloths for under the "art work."

  • For variety, you can chill or warm the paint first.

  • Add salt or sand for texture.

Now go grab your toddler and have some finger painting fun!

This is also a great outside activity!
