I have some thoughts on the whole strong woman thing, but I'd like to hear yours first.
How would you describe a strong woman?

Supporting my husband through a deployment. Feels pretty darn strong to me :)
Being firmly planted in my faith in Jesus Christ makes me a strong woman!
This is hard. I like to feel that I am strong because I believe in myself. Inside me, at my core is my spirit and there my strength resides.
A Woman's truest strength comes from development of Godly character. Despite how much we feel we may lack or may be forming over time, it is what is developed thru Christ and sincerity that we form real strength. It is a painful process recognizing weaknesses, the spots in me that I call the uglies and areas that we struggles with from wrong habits. The process does however create strength as we look to Christ and pattern His being in our own. This is certainly not done in our own strength but strength is given as we trust God to be the creator of the character and strength. I do feel our strength to be gain is a wholeness that consist of mental, emotional, spiritual and physical strength. A strong woman is a woman of character. Not all the same personality but all strong women of developing character that consist of service with love and kindness through giving selflessly. May the Lord bless you all with His strength on your journeys. I long to be a woman of Strength and dignity... A woman of wholeness and beautiful Character.
Amen to anonymous!

I subscribe to Heartlight's daily emails, and I received this one in an email today:
"We are not built for the mountains and the dawns and aesthetic affinities, those are for moments of inspiration, that is all. We are built for the valley, for the ordinary stuff we are in, and that is where we have to prove our mettle."
And our "mettle" comes from God.
The strongest women are strong in the Lord!
A woman who is secure in her role as Child of God, Help Meet to her husband and Mother to her Children.
I have been considering this question a lot this year. I think a strong woman is a woman who knows and loves herself. A woman who doesn't allow her identity to be defined or shaken by anyone else, but finds peace from within. Not necessarily a "career" woman or a homemaker or a Christian or a Jew or a Muslim, but a woman who stands in her own truth. A woman who is courageous enough to celebrate herself every day, even if no one else does.
I think a strong woman is one who can support her husband, with a positive attitude (outward anyway, not harboring any resentment) and build up his confidence and self esteem with her words, no matter how tired she is or how hard her day may have been. Through hard financial times, job loss, difficult children, death of a loved one and everything in between.
I'm ready to be a "strong woman" - I'm currently working on it!!! (and I don't even have the above excuses to keep me from being strong...well except the financial part. That's affecting all husbands' weak spots, I'm sure!)
