One of the characteristics of a wise woman is that she "builds her house," (Proverbs 14:1). An example of a woman who builds her house (as opposed to the foolish woman who tears it down with her own hands) is the proverbs 31 woman:
"...And works with her hands in delight...She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idlenss..." Proverbs 31:13; 27
How can I can build up my house? One of the ways is to work diligently with my hands, with a smile on my face.
Today's Life-giving Challenge is:
Work diligently today. Get up, put off laziness (of which I certainly struggle) and work hard. Push yourself to make your home a place of comfort and peace. Start by cleaning everything that you can (you won't get it all done, but you will feel great after working so hard). Don't get overwhelmed, just work on the main areas that people see, doing one room at a time. Don't worry about everything being perfect, just do your best. Put on some music, get your kiddos involved (or just get them busy with a project!) Be diligent. Smile and praise God while you're at it - be thankful you have a home to take care of.
